Sage X3 is an ERP system for established, mid-sized businesses. It supports finance, distribution, production and international operations. Its roots lie with the French company Adonix, which Sage acquired in 2005; cloud functionality was added afterwards. According to Dutch-language trade coverage, Sage X3 can run in the public cloud, in an environment hosted by the vendor or a partner, or in the customer's own infrastructure, including through certified Sage partners. The package includes a data protection sub-module with tools for locating and managing personal data.
From 2009, responsibility for X3 moved to Sage in the United Kingdom. The owner is Sage Group plc, a British company headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, and listed on the London Stock Exchange. The product is not open source. Because a deployment can sit in your own or a partner's infrastructure, the chosen delivery model determines where the data is located and which jurisdiction applies.
