Sentry is an application monitoring platform for developers. It covers error monitoring, tracing, session replay, profiling, logs, metrics, cron and uptime monitoring, and Seer, an AI debugger. Sentry is added to applications through SDKs for languages including JavaScript, Python, Go, Java, PHP, Ruby, Swift and .NET and integrates with GitHub, Slack and Jira. You can use it as SaaS at sentry.io or host it yourself.
Sentry is a US company with an office in San Francisco; it also has offices in Vienna and Toronto. The hosted service runs multi-tenant on Google Cloud Platform. When creating an organisation you choose to store data in the US (Iowa) or the EU (Frankfurt); this cannot be changed afterwards. Event data is stored in the chosen region, but user accounts, organisation settings and DSN keys are always stored in the US. The source code is under the Functional Source License and converts to Apache 2.0 after two years per release, so it is not OSI-approved open source. Self-hosting is possible with Docker Compose, with community-only support.
