Sulu: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Sulu is an open-source CMS for PHP developers, built on the Symfony framework. It is aimed at organisational websites and supports multiple sites through Webspaces, multilingual content, navigation, form management, SEO features and shareable preview links. You can use Sulu as a traditional, headless or hybrid CMS, and its API integrates with tools such as HubSpot and Salesforce. It requires PHP 8.2 or higher and Symfony 6.4 to 7.4. Sulu is deployment-agnostic: you can run it on a single server or on orchestration systems such as Kubernetes. You install and operate it yourself.

Sulu is released under the MIT licence. It is made by Sulu GmbH in Dornbirn, Austria, whose core team also offers support, consulting, training and development. Because the software is open source and self-hosted, you decide where the data resides, and a European organisation can run Sulu on EU infrastructure without depending on a cloud platform of the vendor.
