uMap is a web application that lets you create your own maps with OpenStreetMap layers within minutes and embed them in your website. The software is built on Django and Leaflet. It is aimed at organisations and individuals who want to publish their own maps on open map data, without a commercial mapping service. It is installed as server software, and public instances also exist.
According to the project site, uMap is maintained by a community of contributors, with no single organisation named as owner. Sponsors include OSM France, ANCT and NLnet, and the project received funding from the European Commission's NGI0 Commons Fund. Public instances are run by the OpenStreetMap organisations of France, Germany and Switzerland. The source code is released under the AGPL, version 3 or later. If you host it yourself, your map data stays on your own infrastructure.
