WINDEV / WEBDEV (PC SOFT): sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

WINDEV, WEBDEV and WINDEV Mobile are development environments from PC SOFT for desktop, web and mobile applications. WEBDEV covers internet and intranet development and includes an application server, and the suite uses the WLangage programming language and the HyperFileSQL database. Developers install these tools on their own computers, so the product is installed software rather than a service the vendor hosts.

PC SOFT is a French simplified joint-stock company (SAS) headquartered in Montpellier and founded in 1984. The company's website names no parent company or owner. Because applications built with the suite run on infrastructure the customer chooses, the organisation decides where its data is stored. The website has a data-protection page but no GDPR commitment, so customers who process personal data should review the licence and data-protection terms before relying on the product.
