Wingman AI is an open-source runtime for AI agents. According to its repository, it is a stateful multi-agent platform made up of a gateway that hosts agents, routing and durable sessions, and a local command-line interface. It supports subagents, custom agents, hooks, skills and MCP tools, long-term memory and webhooks. The gateway is installed with npm and started locally. Models can come from cloud providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter, xAI and GitHub Copilot, or from local providers such as LM Studio and Ollama. The project is released under the MIT licence.
Wingman is not a company product: the repository belongs to an individual developer, Russell Canfield, and the sources describe no company behind it and no hosted service. Because the software runs on your own machine or server, no vendor cloud sits in the data path; where prompts and code go depends on the model provider you configure. Local providers keep all processing in your own environment.
