XTDB is an open-source SQL database built around a bitemporal history, recording both when data was valid and when it was recorded, so past states can be queried with time-travel SQL. Its storage uses immutable object storage. It can be started from a Docker image and queried with PostgreSQL-compatible tools, and it is also available through the AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure marketplaces. The project positions it for auditable reporting and decision-making.
XTDB is built by JUXT, whose head office is in London, United Kingdom; JUXT Ltd holds the copyright. The United Kingdom is outside the EU, so the company is not subject to EU jurisdiction. The code is licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 and can be run on-premises. A deployment through a US cloud marketplace is subject to that provider's terms, while on-premises use keeps the data on infrastructure the organisation chooses.
