Aiven provides managed open-source data infrastructure in the cloud, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Valkey, Apache Kafka, ClickHouse, OpenSearch and Grafana. Aiven operates the services for you, covering backups, patching, upgrades and scaling, and you manage them through a console, an API, Terraform or a Kubernetes operator. A bring-your-own-cloud option runs them in your own cloud account. According to Aiven, every service runs the upstream open-source version, not a proprietary fork.

Aiven was founded in Helsinki, Finland, where it is headquartered. Services run on AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, DigitalOcean, UpCloud and OVHcloud, and you choose the region, including regions in Finland, Germany and the Netherlands. Under Aiven's data processing addendum, personal data stays within the EEA if you select an EEA hosting provider.
