Adjust: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Adjust is a mobile measurement and attribution platform. Advertisers and app developers use it to measure where installs and usage come from, and for analytics, incrementality measurement and fraud prevention. According to its website, measurement covers web, CTV, PC and console as well as mobile. Adjust is delivered as a cloud service, integrated through an SDK in the app.

Adjust GmbH is based in Berlin. Since the acquisition in 2021 it has been part of the US company AppLovin; the website calls Adjust an AppLovin company. The parent is therefore in the United States, which means CLOUD Act exposure. Adjust offers data residency as a separate option: a customer's data is then stored on dedicated servers in the chosen region, including the EEA and the United States, as well as Turkey and Saudi Arabia. The choice is made per app and cannot be changed afterwards. Adjust is not open source.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Adjust

Adjust is headquartered in DE and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data. The ultimate owner is based in US. Foreign control undermines part of the certainty a European headquarters offers.

Adjust hosts data in EU, US, OTHER. Exactly what stays within the EU — and what does not — is defined by the vendor's data processing agreement and sub-processor list, not by a setting you control yourself; check those documents for the precise scope, including backups, logs and support access.

Adjust is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Adjust together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
