Atlassian Rovo is Atlassian's AI offering, bringing search, chat and agents to tools such as Jira and Confluence and to connected third-party apps. Rovo draws on Atlassian's Teamwork Graph for context across people, projects and code, and agents can handle next steps in workflows. Rovo honours existing user permissions, and administrators control what the AI may access. It is part of Atlassian Cloud; there is no self-hosted version.
Atlassian is headquartered in San Francisco, and according to its filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission the parent company is incorporated in Delaware, so US law applies. According to Atlassian, Rovo uses open-source models hosted by Atlassian and third-party models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google. By default, data leaves the customer's site to reach those providers; eligible Cloud Enterprise customers can request Atlassian-hosted models only. Data residency for Rovo can be enabled on request, with regions that include the EU (Frankfurt and Dublin) and the US. Processing is covered by Atlassian's Data Processing Addendum.
