CircleCI is a CI/CD platform that development and platform teams use to automate builds, tests and deployments. It offers execution environments and build images, test-run optimisation, autoscaling, rollback pipelines and an MCP server that lets AI assistants read logs and job metadata. It integrates with GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, AWS, GCP and Kubernetes, among others. CircleCI is available as a hosted cloud service, with self-managed runners (hybrid) or as CircleCI Server, which you run on your own infrastructure.
The provider is Circle Internet Services, Inc., based in San Francisco in the United States; the company is privately held. The platform is not open source. According to its privacy policy, personal data may be transferred to the US, and CircleCI states that it is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The policy does not name fixed data centre locations. Organisations that want to keep source code and secrets within their own jurisdiction can choose self-managed runners or CircleCI Server. Execution then takes place on your infrastructure, although the product remains from a US vendor.
