Cisco BroadWorks is a carrier-grade calling and collaboration platform that telecom service providers use to offer business telephony to their own customers. According to Cisco it provides PBX functions at user, group, site and enterprise level, including hunt groups, an auto-attendant, unified messaging and contact-centre functions. It supports IP desk phones, desktop and mobile apps, and integrates with Cisco Webex. The platform originates from BroadSoft, which Cisco acquired in February 2018. Cisco states that BroadWorks is delivered through service-provider partners rather than sold directly to end users.
Cisco is headquartered in San Jose, California, so BroadWorks is a product of a US group and falls under US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act. Cisco's pages name no hosting regions: where call data is stored depends on the service provider that runs the platform. A European organisation buying a BroadWorks-based service should therefore ask the provider in which country the platform is operated. Cisco publishes a data protection agreement and says it relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses for transfers.
