ClickHouse is an open-source, column-oriented database for analytical (OLAP) workloads. Users run real-time analysis in standard SQL over large volumes of data, for example for analytics, observability, data warehousing and vector search. The software was originally developed at Yandex and is released under the Apache 2.0 licence. You can run ClickHouse yourself on your own machines or in the cloud, or use it as a managed service: ClickHouse Cloud, available on AWS, Google Cloud and Azure.
The company ClickHouse, Inc. is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a subsidiary, ClickHouse B.V., in Amsterdam. For the managed service, European regions are available, including Frankfurt, Ireland, London, the Netherlands and Germany (Azure), alongside regions in the United States. Because the code is open source, you can also host the database entirely yourself and keep data location and operations under your own control. With the managed service, the provider remains a US company.
