Comidor: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Comidor is a low-code platform for business process management and workflow automation. The vendor describes the product as covering BPM, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and links to a product demonstration. Platforms of this kind are used to model business processes and to automate approvals and tasks across departments. The website does not say whether the product is offered as a hosted service or installed on the customer's own infrastructure.

The operating company is Comidor Ltd, a UK company with a registered address in London; the website also lists an office in Thessaloniki, Greece. The website names no parent company or owner. The privacy policy states that personal data may be stored and processed outside the user's country, without naming a hosting location or sub-processors and without committing to storage in the EU or EEA. European organisations considering Comidor as an alternative should therefore request hosting and processing terms in writing before choosing the platform.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Comidor

Comidor is headquartered in GB, outside the EU. Contracts and data therefore also fall under non-European law. The GDPR applies through contractual terms, but in a conflict with local legislation you have less certainty than with a European vendor.

Comidor hosts data outside the EU (OTHER). Personal data therefore leaves the EU, which requires a transfer mechanism under the GDPR and pulls the data residency score down.

Comidor is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Comidor together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
