Configu is an open-source configuration-as-code platform. Teams use it to manage environment variables, secrets and feature flags from a single source of truth. Developers define a schema for each configuration in code; Configu validates values, removes duplicates, checks dependencies and synchronises configuration across environments, key-value stores, databases and secrets managers. It can be used from the command line, in a CI/CD pipeline or embedded in a program, with integrations for GitHub Actions, Terraform, Kubernetes and AWS, among others.
The source code is public on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 licence. According to the documentation, Configu can also be self-hosted and can run fully offline with local files or a local database; the Orchestrator works with storage such as AWS Secrets Manager, HashiCorp Vault or files in a Git repository. A Configu Platform with a free Community plan also exists. For a European organisation, self-hosting means configuration and secrets remain under its own control.
