i3D.net is a Dutch provider of hosted infrastructure for performance-intensive applications, especially games. The company offers bare metal servers, managed game servers, multi-cloud scaling, colocation, IP transit and network solutions such as anti-DDoS and MPLS. The services are consumed as hosted infrastructure and are aimed at game studios, publishers and other organisations with heavy network traffic.
i3D.net is based in the Netherlands and was acquired by the French company Ubisoft (announced in 2018), which is therefore the ultimate parent. The owner is French and thus European. The infrastructure is distributed worldwide: according to Dutch press coverage, the company runs servers in dozens of certified data centres on several continents. Where data is stored therefore depends on the location chosen. The platform is not open source. A European organisation that wants to keep its data within the EU should explicitly select a European location when ordering.
