Lutra Consulting provides geospatial software development, consulting, training and support centred on QGIS. It has worked with QGIS since 2009, has contributed features such as mesh layers, point clouds and 3D, and has developed numerous QGIS plugins. It also builds Mergin Maps, a tool for collecting, sharing and publishing geospatial data: a mobile and tablet app for field capture, synchronisation with QGIS, and web publishing of QGIS projects. Mergin Maps is offered as a cloud service and can also be installed on your own infrastructure.
Lutra Consulting Limited is registered in England and Wales, with its registered office in Ashford, Kent, and a team spread across eight countries. The United Kingdom is outside the EU. Mergin Maps is open source, dual-licensed under AGPL-3 and a commercial licence, with community and enterprise editions of the server in a public repository. A European organisation can run the server in its own environment and keep field data under its control. The sources reviewed do not state where the hosted Mergin Maps cloud is located.
