Modelio is an open-source modelling tool for UML, BPMN, ArchiMate and TOGAF, aimed at enterprise architecture, software development and systems engineering. It is aimed at architects, developers and systems engineers who model systems and processes. It is installed as a desktop application on the user's own computer, and its source code is published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 licence. Downloads come through the GitHub releases, and the project website currently points to that space.
The publisher is Modeliosoft, which SOFTEAM owns entirely. SOFTEAM is a subsidiary of Docaposte, itself part of the French La Poste group, so the ownership chain stays in France. Modelio is distributed as a downloadable desktop application, and source code and releases are maintained in the ModelioOpenSource organisation on GitHub. For a European organisation, it is a self-managed option for architecture and process modelling, with a licence that allows the code to be inspected and modified.
