NumSpot: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

NumSpot is a French cloud platform for public and private organisations. It offers IaaS (compute, storage and network), managed open-source PaaS services such as Kubernetes and PostgreSQL, an AI platform and management tools through a console, API, CLI and Terraform. The platform is designed to keep workloads portable and reversible across public cloud, private cloud and on-premises infrastructure, and targets regulated sectors such as public administration, healthcare and financial services.

NumSpot is operated in France and owned by a French public-private group of shareholders: Banque des Territoires, Docaposte, Dassault Systèmes and Bouygues Telecom. There is no foreign parent company. According to NumSpot, its IaaS service obtained the SecNumCloud qualification from the French cybersecurity agency ANSSI in 2026, alongside HDS and ISO 27001 certification; the company says SecNumCloud also assesses protection against extraterritorial laws. NumSpot builds on open-source technology; the platform itself is not open source.

Why digital sovereignty matters with NumSpot

NumSpot is headquartered in FR and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

Data is hosted exclusively in the EU, so NumSpot scores best on data residency.

NumSpot is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs NumSpot together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
