Octopai was an Israeli platform for automated data lineage and metadata management and is now offered as Cloudera Data Lineage. It automatically harvests metadata, scripts, code and dependencies and maps how data moves across systems, including inferred lineage where needed. The product covers cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments, has more than sixty native integrations according to Cloudera plus a connector for custom sources, and produces interactive lineage diagrams, audit trails and data-quality information for audits. It is delivered as SaaS.
Cloudera announced the acquisition of the Octopai platform on 14 November 2024, and the octopai.com domain now redirects to the Cloudera page. Cloudera is a US company headquartered in Santa Clara, California, privately held by KKR and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice since 2021. Octopai itself was founded in Israel. The US parent is the CLOUD Act signal. Cloudera does not name hosting regions for the SaaS service, so ask where your metadata is stored. The product is not open source.
