Online TED is a web-based voting system for live polls and surveys that requires no software installation. The Education edition is designed for schools and universities: lecturers run live votes during lectures or online classes, and multi-day voting rounds are possible. The Business edition targets companies for customer surveys, employee feedback, market research and presentations. Participants vote on their own device using an access code or QR code, and results appear immediately as a bar chart or word cloud. The system is optimised for use alongside Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
Online TED is operated from Erlangen, Germany. According to the vendor, its databases and platforms are hosted 100 per cent in Germany, with the server location in Cologne, and server-side backups protect against data loss. The vendor states that it strictly follows German and European data protection rules and sets no cookies of its own for voting. No parent company outside the EU is named. For a European organisation this means a service with both the operator and the hosting inside the EU.
