OpenDataDiscovery, known as the ODD Platform, is an open-source data governance platform that brings data discovery, data quality, a business glossary, lineage and data modelling into one environment. Data teams use it to catalogue datasets and check whether pipelines deliver what downstream users expect. The platform runs locally with Docker Compose or on Kubernetes with Helm charts, and the makers also offer a hosted SaaS version.
The platform is maintained by Provectus IT, Inc., based in San Francisco, California, United States, and is released under the Apache 2.0 licence. The source code is public on GitHub, so you can run it entirely on your own servers and keep the metadata within your own infrastructure. Because the vendor is US-based, a SaaS service is subject to US law, and the vendor's website does not state where that service is hosted. European organisations that want to keep catalogue metadata under their own control can use the self-hosted deployment and review the SaaS terms before choosing it.
