RawTherapee is a free, cross-platform raw image processor for developing photos from many digital cameras, aimed at users from enthusiasts to professional photographers. It uses a non-destructive, 32-bit floating-point engine and offers several demosaicing algorithms, pixel-shift compositing with ghost masking, multi-frame raw support, dark-frame subtraction, flat-field correction, hot and dead pixel correction, and HDR DNG processing. It includes a file browser with ratings and filters, a processing queue and batch tools, and colour management with ICC and DCP profiles. Edits are saved in sidecar files, and output goes to TIFF, JPEG or PNG. It is installed as a desktop application for Linux, Windows and macOS.
RawTherapee is released under the GPL (version 3 or later), so the source code is open. It was started by Gábor Horváth in Budapest, Hungary, and is now developed by the RawTherapee Team as a community project with the code on GitHub. There is no commercial vendor, parent company or vendor-run cloud service, and photos are processed on your own machine. Support is provided through a community forum and the RawPedia documentation site.
