Salesforce Platform, formerly Force.com, is the platform that organisations use to extend their Salesforce environment with their own applications, websites and portals that connect securely to Salesforce data. It includes Agentforce for building and managing AI agents, Data 360 for unifying enterprise data, MuleSoft for integrating systems and APIs, Tableau for analytics and DevOps Center for building, testing and deploying applications. Applications were originally written in the proprietary Apex language, with Lightning components added from 2015. The platform is delivered as a cloud service on Hyperforce, Salesforce's public-cloud infrastructure.
Salesforce, Inc. is headquartered in San Francisco and has no foreign parent. As a US company it falls under US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act. The platform is proprietary and not open source. A European organisation that stores customer or business data on Salesforce Platform should therefore examine the chosen hosting region and the contractual safeguards.
