Kolo (formerly Serverius): sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Kolo is a Northern European colocation and data-centre platform. The Dutch provider Serverius is now part of Kolo, and serverius.net redirects to kolodc.com. Kolo offers colocation, including single-unit colocation, connectivity and interconnection, hybrid multi-cloud, disaster recovery, secure colocation, network security, NOC-as-a-service and relocation services. Customers place their own hardware in Kolo facilities in the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden; the Dutch sites are in Dronten, Meppel, Apeldoorn and Amsterdam. It is infrastructure rather than software-as-a-service.

Kolo is backed by CapMan Infra, part of the Finnish asset manager CapMan, which acquired Serverius in 2023. Ownership therefore sits in Finland, an EU member state. All the sites named are in EU member states. The Serverius organisation was based in Apeldoorn. The service is not open source. For a European organisation this means hardware and data stay within the EU and no non-European parent company is involved.
