SvSAN is StorMagic's virtual SAN software. It creates highly available shared block storage from two servers, aimed at edge sites and small data centres. A lightweight remote witness decides which server becomes primary if the link between the two nodes fails, and the two servers can have different hardware. SvSAN runs on x86 servers alongside VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V or KVM hypervisors, and is delivered as software that the customer installs on its own hardware.
StorMagic is a British company, co-founded in Bristol, England, which places it outside the EU and EEA. SvSAN is not a hosted service: storage data stays on the customer's own servers. Ownership and data processing terms should be confirmed directly with the vendor before purchase, together with the support and remote-access arrangements and the licence terms.
