Subnoto: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Subnoto is a French electronic signature platform focused on confidentiality. Users send and sign documents online, passwordless through passkeys, with real-time status tracking and automatic notifications. For developers there is a REST API with an OpenAPI specification, TypeScript and Python SDKs, webhooks and an MCP server for AI assistants. According to Subnoto, documents are processed inside secure enclaves (trusted execution environments), so they stay encrypted even during processing. The website says eIDAS advanced and qualified signatures are planned for 2026. Subnoto is delivered as SaaS.

Subnoto presents itself as a company made in France and belongs to the La French Tech ecosystem around Paris. By its own account the service runs on its own servers in France, so data stays in Europe. The company was founded by Cyril Leclerc and Corentin Mors. No foreign parent company is mentioned. The software is not open source.

Data is hosted exclusively in the EU, so Subnoto scores best on data residency.
