Smart Business Connect is Swisscom's business telephony bundle for small and medium-sized companies. It combines an internet connection with a virtual phone system in the cloud, used through desk phones, softphones and an app. The bundle includes call forwarding, conferencing and calling from anywhere with the fixed-line number. It is a hosted service, so no phone system needs to be installed in the office.
Swisscom AG is headquartered in Ittigen, near Bern, Switzerland. The Swiss Confederation holds 51 percent of the share capital, so no foreign parent company has been identified. Swisscom states that data centres for business customers are located exclusively in Switzerland, with geo-redundancy within the country. The product page for the telephony bundle does not name a hosting location. Switzerland lies outside the EU, so the GDPR does not apply automatically; a European organisation should set out the data protection terms of the service in the contract.
