UpCloud is a Finnish cloud provider of infrastructure as a service (IaaS), with cloud servers, Kubernetes, storage, networking and managed databases. The service is billed hourly and can be automated through an API, an official Terraform provider, a command-line interface (CLI) and SDKs. Its customers are mainly small and medium-sized businesses in managed hosting, IT services, e-commerce and SaaS, who consume UpCloud as a hosted cloud service.
UpCloud Oy was founded in 2011, is headquartered in Helsinki and is privately held. Its investors include the Finnish state-owned investment company Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment), Inventure and the Dutch investor Connected Capital. Its data centres are in Europe, including Helsinki, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Madrid and Warsaw, but also elsewhere, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Singapore and Australia. For data that must stay in the EU, the choice of location therefore matters. UpCloud is not open source.
