Alteryx describes itself as an agentic analytics and automation company that helps organisations turn complex data into trusted insights, decisions and action. Its Alteryx One platform, including Alteryx Analytics Cloud, separates the control plane from the data plane. Desktop and server environments are also available for on-premises use. Components such as Auto Insights run in Alteryx's cloud.

Alteryx has been privately held since March 2024, when funds affiliated with Clearlake Capital Group and Insight Partners completed its acquisition and took it off the stock exchange. Its cloud services run on Google Cloud, with hosting available in the United States, Australia and Germany. Without the Private Data Handling option, Auto Insights stores an extract of the datasets used on Alteryx's cloud; with it, data is hosted and processed in the customer's own provisioned VPC environment. European organisations should therefore choose the German region and Private Data Handling explicitly, and review contractually the transfer of personal data, which Alteryx says is covered by standard contractual clauses.
