Apple TV+ is Apple's subscription streaming service, called Apple TV since October 2025. It launched in November 2019 and mainly offers Apple Originals, series and films commissioned by Apple, complemented by live sport such as Formula 1, MLS and Friday Night Baseball. It can be watched in the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, Android, PC and many smart TVs and streaming devices, or at tv.apple.com. Originals can be downloaded for offline viewing, and a subscription can be shared with up to six people through Family Sharing.
Apple is a US company headquartered in Cupertino, California, and operates the service itself. It is a closed, proprietary cloud service that is not open source and cannot be self-hosted. For a European organisation that offers streaming to staff or customers, this is a consumer service from a US provider, not a platform where you control administration or data location.
