Centreon: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Centreon is an IT monitoring and observability platform for hybrid environments. Infrastructure Monitoring covers hosts, networks, cloud, containers, OT and business applications through connectors and automatic discovery. Log Management collects logs natively through OpenTelemetry without a proprietary agent, and Experience Monitoring combines synthetic monitoring, real user monitoring and load testing. Infrastructure Monitoring runs on the customer's own infrastructure or as SaaS through Centreon Cloud.

Centreon was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Paris, France. The monitoring engine is open source under the Apache 2.0 licence, while commercial editions add the full connector catalogue, support and services. In November 2025 the investment firm Sixth Street made a strategic investment; according to the announcement, the founders and management retain board and capital control. Log Management data is hosted in France on the OUTSCALE trusted cloud, and the vendor describes Infrastructure Monitoring as offering European hosting. Self-hosting keeps monitoring data in the organisation's own infrastructure.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Centreon

Centreon is headquartered in FR and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

Data is hosted exclusively in the EU, so Centreon scores best on data residency.

Centreon is open source. You can audit the source code, self-host the software and keep the encryption keys under your own control. Switching is easier because data and software are not tied to a single party.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Centreon together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
