ExtraHop RevealX is a network visibility platform. It combines network detection and response (NDR), network performance monitoring (NPM), intrusion detection and packet forensics in one environment. It analyses traffic across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments using sensors, and according to ExtraHop it gives context to issues that most security and IT tools miss. Security and network teams use it to recognise threats and investigate performance problems.
ExtraHop Networks, Inc. is headquartered in Seattle, and the product is not open source. Since 2021 the company has been owned by Bain Capital Private Equity and Crosspoint Capital Partners, both US investors. ExtraHop's public pages give no information on hosting regions for the cloud console or on a data processing agreement. With sensors in the organisation's own network, traffic metadata stays in its own environment, but the vendor and its owners are American. For a European organisation this is relevant when assessing exposure to legislation such as the CLOUD Act.
