Hulu is an American subscription streaming TV service. Its catalogue consists of series, films, Hulu Originals and children's programming, with ad-supported and ad-free plans; Hulu + Live TV adds live channels, sports and news with DVR. The service is delivered over the internet through hulu.com, apps and as a Hulu hub inside Disney+. According to the website, Live TV is available only in the 50 US states and the District of Columbia, and regional restrictions may apply.
Hulu is owned by Disney, which bought out Comcast's remaining stake. The company is based in the United States and is therefore subject to US legislation, including the CLOUD Act. Since October 2025, Hulu content has been available in regions including Europe as a hub in Disney+. Hulu is not open source and cannot be self-hosted: you use the service only as Hulu and Disney deliver it. For a European organisation it is mainly a consumer service.
