Luminar Neo is an AI-assisted photo editor from Skylum for photographers. It edits RAW, JPEG, PNG and TIFF files non-destructively, with layers, masking, cloning and lens correction, and adds AI tools such as sky replacement, portrait retouching, noise reduction, upscaling, restoration and generative functions (GenErase, GenExpand, GenSwap). It is delivered as a desktop application for macOS and Windows, as a plug-in for Lightroom Classic and Photoshop, and as apps for iPad and iPhone. Skylum also offers Luminar Engine for businesses, which according to the vendor can be deployed on the customer's own infrastructure.
Skylum, formerly Macphun, was founded in Ukraine in 2008 and has its development base in Kyiv. Its website does not state the legal seat of the company or its ownership, and it does not explain whether the AI functions run locally or in the cloud, so organisations that handle confidential images should clarify this with the vendor. Luminar Neo is proprietary software and is not open source. Ukraine is not an EU member state.
