OpenPanel is a web and product analytics platform that measures page views, events and user behaviour, and positions itself as an alternative to Mixpanel and Plausible. It is offered as a cloud service and as software that can run on the customer's own servers or in a private cloud. The code is published on GitHub under the AGPL-3.0 licence.
The operating company is OpenPanel AB in Stockholm, Sweden. The vendor states that cloud data is hosted in the EU, that it acts as a data processor for cloud customers, and that a data processing agreement is available. Because the software is licensed under the AGPL-3.0, the self-hosted version can be deployed. A European organisation can therefore keep all of its analytics data on its own infrastructure.
