Trello is a visual work management tool built on boards, lists and cards. Individuals, small teams and larger organisations use it to capture to-dos from email and Slack, plan work with a calendar-synced planner, automate repetitive steps and connect other tools through Power-Ups and integrations. An MCP server links it to AI tools. It is a cloud service with web, desktop and mobile apps, and it is part of Atlassian.
Trello is owned by Atlassian, whose parent company, Atlassian Corporation, has been a US-domiciled holding company since 2022. According to Atlassian's GDPR documentation for Trello, data is stored in Amazon Web Services data centres in the US, EU data residency is not offered, and some service features require data to be transferred to the US. For transfers from the EU, Atlassian refers to the standard contractual clauses in its data processing addendum. Trello is proprietary software. European organisations that need data to stay in the EU should take this into account.
