Coroot is an open-source observability and application performance monitoring platform. It uses eBPF to collect metrics, logs, traces and continuous profiles without changes to application code. On top of this it provides predefined dashboards and inspections, SLO-based alerting and AI-assisted root-cause analysis. It is aimed at development and operations teams who want to trace failures and performance problems, and is an alternative to commercial APM services such as Datadog. The Community Edition is installed by the user, for example with Helm or Docker, and uses Prometheus and ClickHouse for storage.
Coroot is developed by Coroot Inc., a US company. The Community Edition is licensed under the Apache License 2.0, and a separate paid Enterprise Edition exists. The documentation describes installation on the organisation's own infrastructure, so telemetry data stays in the organisation's environment and its location is the organisation's own choice. For a European organisation this means the software can run without data being passed to its maker, on its own servers or with a European hosting provider.
