Agent Search is Google Cloud's search service, formerly known as Vertex AI Search. Organisations use it to build search and question-answering features on top of their own company data and websites. The product consists of data stores and apps, complemented by autocomplete and analytics. It is delivered as a managed cloud service and accessed through APIs and the Google Cloud console; there is no self-hosted edition.
Google Cloud is part of Alphabet, which is headquartered in Mountain View in the United States. A European organisation is therefore exposed to US legislation such as the CLOUD Act. Customers can choose a global location or the us and eu multi-regions. According to the documentation, the eu and us options keep data at rest and machine-learning processing within the chosen region, but some features, such as tail-match autocomplete suggestions, are not available there. For personal data, Google offers a Cloud Data Processing Addendum in which Google acts as processor.
