gopass is a command-line password manager for developers, power users and teams, described as a drop-in replacement for the Unix tool pass. Secrets are encrypted with GnuPG by default, with age as an alternative, and stored in a Git repository by default, which versions them and syncs them between devices. A shared store is set up through a Git remote, and recipients can be listed so that a team can decrypt the same secrets. It runs on Linux, macOS, BSD and Windows, works fully offline, and fits scripts and CI/CD pipelines. Add-ons include browser integration for Firefox and Chrome and a check against known breaches.
gopass is written in Go and released under the MIT licence by the gopass Authors, a community project on GitHub. No company or foreign parent is named, and there is no vendor-hosted service: you decide where the store lives, for example on your own Git server inside the EU. The project's website does not state where it is based. European organisations get full control over keys and data, but support is community-based.
