It uses the Gmail API directly, supports multiple accounts, labels, filters, snoozing and templates, and integrates with macOS features such as notifications and dark mode. It also blocks trackers in emails. It is installed locally on the Mac.

Mimestream is developed by Mimestream, LLC, a small US company with a mailing address in St. Petersburg, Florida, and is subject to US jurisdiction. According to its privacy policy, email data and credentials are not sent from the device to Mimestream's online services, which receive only account details such as the email address. Payments are handled by Paddle. The vendor does not say where those online services are hosted. The policy does not mention the GDPR by name.
