Urban Stack is an intermunicipal digital ecosystem for local authorities. It combines an urban data platform (Urban Data Hub) with an environment for the administration itself (Urban Gov Hub), offering dashboards, maps, analysis and low-code tools, and a public layer (Urban Citizen Hub) for open data, visualisations and citizen participation. A City Tools marketplace adds reusable applications for specific municipal tasks. The repository includes components such as CKAN, Discourse, JupyterHub and Superset.
Urban Stack emerged from the German Smart Cities model project of the city of Gütersloh and is offered as a product of Gütersloh Digital, that city's digitalisation unit. Several municipalities and a district in North Rhine-Westphalia already use it. The code is on OpenCoDE under the EUPL-1.2 licence. According to the project site, the multi-tenant service runs in data centres in Germany, with data separated per municipality; the open components can also be reused independently.
