Fluux is a hosted real-time messaging service built on the open XMPP and MQTT standards. It is aimed at developers and companies that want to add chat, bots, live updates or device messaging to their own applications, through APIs and a managed ejabberd server. Fluux is offered as a SaaS platform, and the provider states that customers can later move to a self-hosted setup.
Fluux is operated by ProcessOne SAS, a company registered in Paris, France, which states that it is privately owned, self-funded and has no outside investors. The service runs on Amazon Web Services, and customers can choose a US, EU or other AWS data location. Fluux describes itself as EU GDPR compliant. For a European organisation, the Paris seat, the absence of foreign investors, the EU hosting option and the possibility of self-hosting are the relevant points; the dependency on AWS remains a factor to assess.
