Help Scout is a customer support platform that it describes as an AI support suite. Its inbox brings email, SMS, social media, chat and voice conversations together, with automatic assignments, workflows and context carried through handoffs. An AI agent resolves requests, a copilot drafts replies and answers questions from the knowledge base. It is delivered as a cloud service with iOS and Android apps and integrates with other tools.
Help Scout is a US company. Its GDPR documentation states that Help Scout is hosted on AWS servers in the United States, and no EU hosting option is mentioned there. Help Scout says it complies with the GDPR and UK GDPR, provides an executable data processing agreement and publishes a list of sub-processors. For a European organisation this means that customer conversations are stored in the US and fall under US jurisdiction, so the transfer mechanism and the sub-processor list deserve review before adoption.
