It offers templates and methods for areas such as product development, sales and customer journey mapping, tools for facilitating workshops, and Mural AI, which helps start brainstorming sessions, analyse feedback and suggest next steps. It integrates with Microsoft Teams and Surface Hub and offers an API and an MCP page. You use Mural as SaaS through the web app and downloadable apps. The software is not open source.

Mural is provided by Tactivos, Inc., a US company that describes itself as fully remote. Since February 2022, Enterprise customers can choose per workspace to store their data in Europe or Asia Pacific, at no additional cost; at launch this applied to newly created workspaces. Other plans do not have this choice. The sub-processors named in Mural's data processing addendum are located in the United States. The US parent is a CLOUD Act signal.
