Bókun is an Icelandic company. According to the acquisition report, its headquarters remained in Iceland after TripAdvisor acquired it in April 2018. The Bókun privacy policy states that the services are owned and provided by Tripadvisor LLC, based in Needham, Massachusetts, so US ownership and US law are relevant. The policy includes a GDPR section and an EU representative, and says personal data may be transferred outside the EEA, but it does not name hosting locations. Iceland is part of the EEA, but a European organisation should review the processing terms and the legal basis for transfers to the United States.
