Confluence is Atlassian's collaboration and knowledge platform, a team wiki in which teams bring together pages, live docs, whiteboards, databases and videos. It integrates with Jira, Figma, GitHub, Google Drive and Microsoft Teams, among others, and includes AI features through Rovo, such as drafting, summaries and search across connected knowledge. Confluence is delivered as SaaS (Cloud) and, according to Wikipedia, also as on-premises software; the cloud service runs on AWS.
Atlassian Corporation, the holding company, has been a US (Delaware) corporation since a 2022 reorganisation, which places it under US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act. By default, Confluence Cloud is hosted in the Global location, where Atlassian may move data between AWS regions. On the Standard, Premium and Enterprise plans, administrators can pin data residency, for example to the EU (Frankfurt and Dublin) or Germany. Pages, attachments, comments and search data are in scope; permission and restriction configuration, space keys, AI data and account information are not. Confluence is proprietary and not open source.
