Dynatrace is an observability platform that uses AI and automation to monitor applications, infrastructure, user experience, logs and security. OneAgent collects data automatically, Grail is a data lakehouse for observability, security and business data, and Smartscape maps the relationships between applications and infrastructure. The platform is mainly delivered as SaaS. Dynatrace Managed is an on-premises option for customers who want more control over operations and data.
Dynatrace was founded in 2005 in Linz, Austria. Today, however, Dynatrace, Inc. is a US company listed on the NYSE, with a business address in Boston, Massachusetts, which is relevant for the CLOUD Act. The software is proprietary. For SaaS, data is stored in data centres of AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud. EU regions can be selected, although some, such as Frankfurt on AWS, are available only on request through Dynatrace. Dynatrace states that data transfers are governed by EU standard contractual clauses. Organisations that want more control can consider the Managed option.
