Zello is a push-to-talk app that lets teams talk to each other instantly, much like a walkie-talkie. The app runs on iOS, Android, Windows and Mac. For organisations there is Zello Work with a management console, as well as a mobile SDK, radio gateways and an AI assistant. The standard offering runs in the cloud, and with the Zello Enterprise Server an organisation can also install the service on its own servers.
Zello, Inc. is a US company based in Austin, Texas. The software is not open source. Zello's Trust Center lists GDPR documentation, a data processing addendum, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses, and the privacy policy names representatives in the EU and the UK. Where cloud data is hosted is not published; the privacy policy only says that data may move to servers in other countries. For a European organisation, the US vendor is the main point when assessing exposure to legislation such as the CLOUD Act; the on-premises option can limit that exposure.
