Zammad is a help desk and ticketing platform for customer service, IT support and internal operations. It manages tickets arriving by email and other channels, with templates, tags, SLAs and escalations, a knowledge base and searchable attachments. AI functions rewrite and summarise messages, and integrations run through a REST API, webhooks, LDAP and connectors for telephony and Microsoft 365, among others. Security features include two-factor authentication, SSO (SAML, OpenID Connect), S/MIME and PGP encryption and audit logs. Zammad runs as SaaS operated by the vendor or self-hosted on your own servers.
Zammad GmbH is based in Berlin, Germany. The source code is open source under the AGPL-3.0 and is owned by the Zammad Foundation, also in Berlin. According to the vendor, data in the SaaS offering is stored on servers in Germany. Organisations that want full control can self-host with any provider, with optional support from Zammad. That makes the product suitable for European organisations that need to fix data location and jurisdiction.
